


Welcome. AMKA was founded in the late 70's by a group of maverick Konkanis in Chicago. Today, AMKA has over 150 families and individuals on its roster and celebrates several events annually.
Mission and
Objectives (adapted from 2000 Konkani Convention):
AMKA's mission
is to enable the Konkani community in the Midwest (particularly metropolitan
Chicago, neighboring cities and states) to come together as a cohesive group
to achieve the following objectives:
Promote our Konkani cultural heritage, regardless of our religious or other beliefs
Encourage mentoring and open lines of communication with youth members
Nurture our traditional value system
Provide an opportunity for professional networking and social interactions
Promote entertainment and cultural events
Foster a feeling of goodwill and camaraderie in the community
